ODE ON CHRISTMAS DAY.
Ye nympths of Salem, who, with hallow'd lays
The fame of royal victors love to praise,
O now! with setter, softer music, sing,
A tender, peaceful, infant King!
Let all your tuneful timbrels speak!
His praise in harmony be told
With hymns the sacred cradel deck,
Which eastern monarchs strew'd with gold.
